Q: Do I need to own a GSD to attend pack walks? A: Yes. We are a breed specific club. We do allow GSD mixes and people who own a GSD are allowed bring their other non-GSD's to pack walks as well.
Q: How do I attend my first pack walk? A: If possible contact us through the contact page on this website and or Facebook to let us know you will be joining us. At this point just let us know any questions you may have. Once you arrive at the walk please leave your dog in the vehicle and talk to one of our committee members or pack walks leaders just so we can go over the rules and introduce you to the group. First walks can be a lot for some dogs so we suggest hanging out at the back until you and your dog are comfortable. We are a pretty friendly group.
Q: Is there a fee for attending pack walks? A: There is no fee. Our pack walks are open to the public for GSD owners.
Q: Is it OK if my dog is off leash? A: No. Our pack walks are all on leash. This creates a safe, stable and fair environment for everyone.
Q: My dog has reactivity issues can I still come out? A: Yes. We do allow dogs with behavioural issues at our walks. They need to be managed by the handler and not overly stressed. We believe that if you don't work on the problem you will never correct it. We have many safe dogs we pair people up with and many experienced members who have been through these issues before.
Q: Is there a restriction on the types of collars I use? A: We allow all types of collars or correctional tools on our pack walks. We want people to use the tool(s) their are most comfortable with.
Q: I like using a retractable leash. Are these allowed on pack walks? A: No. We do not allow retractable or Flexi leashses on our walks for safety and control issues. All dogs can be on a maximum of 6 ft leash.
Q: I am looking to purchase a puppy. Where do I look? A: We have a recommend breeder page with many options of quality breeders. The best thing is to email us and let us know what you are looking for in your dog and we can help point you to the best breeder(s) to suit your needs. Please take time and read the article about finding a good breeder.
Q: How do I become a member? A: First you need to attend 4 pack walks so we get to know each other and can apply for membership by talking to a committee member.
Q: Is there a fee for membership? A: Yes. We have a very minimal annual fee for membership. All funds raised go back into the club for events, prizes and some administrative stuff like this website.
